Prempeh College, Opoku Ware School, Anglican SHS, Kumasi Academy and other schools who were on standby tested their readiness for the national championship in the ongoing Regional Championship of for the Ashanti Region as 26 Schools battle each other for the bragging rights as the Regional Championship for the NSMQ.

Defending Champions Prempeh College won their contest with 44 points followed by Sakafia SHS who qualified ahead of T. I. Amass, Ksi. The 44 points chalked by the defending champions was not convincing enough to many people who were comparing their current form with last year’s Team but our checks reveal that this was just a strategy by Prempeh not to raise eye brows.

Opoku Ware School also managed the same 44 points to win their contest after a hard chase by on-fire Simms SHS who got 42 points and in-form Adu Gyamfi SHS. The 44 points chalked by OWASS drew similar comparison with Prempeh as many people wondered if the two favorite schools could match each other boot for boot ahead of the semifinal clashes. Prempeh won the Regional Competition last year before crowning it with the national competition in grand style.

St. Hubert won their contest by a 2 point margin ahead of Kumasi Academy with Asanteman SHS getting 31 points in a closely contested competition.

Anglican SHS managed 34 points to beat KSTS who managed 24 points.

The four winners qualify to the semifinal of the competition as we wait the other contests coming up on Monday.
