KUHIS Crowned Debate Champions Over Prempeh College as O. T. Picks 3rd Spot Over PRESEC-B

All hail the Mmerantee from Kumsi High School. They came, they saw, they conquered. Intelligence, smartness, creativity, skill, professionalism, tenacity, commitment could all be attributed to the Debating Team from the Toronto Desert, the land of possibilities.

Kumasi High School has been crowned as the Winners of this year’s High School Debate Competition after a narrow victory over Prempeh College.

With a point difference of four, Kumasi High School managed to claim the title from Prempeh College who were appearing in the grand finale for the second year running. Prempeh were on top of their game. Their debating skill was top notched. The Sanusi – Manuel partnership was tight. Their fluency and charisma unmatched but Kumasi High School remained focused and did justice to the topic with strong rebuttals.

Before the announcement of the results, you could virtually cut through the tension in the room. It was solid. Nerves couldn’t be calmed, hearts were beating, Social media was agog, opinions were divided, predictions were divided. Now it was time to announce the results. The room was thrown into frenzy when Kumasi High School was finally announced as the winner of the 2022 edition and the 4th Champions of the competition after T. I. Amass, Ksi, St. Jerome SHS and St. Monica’s SHS. The boys behind the Auditorium couldn’t believe they have actually won over rivals Prempeh College. It was time for jubilation.

The High School anthem started blazing. Teachers were rejoicing, the Headmaster went on his knees in celebration. History has been made. The two Debaters of Kuhis and their Patron will tour Dubai and Kenya for their prize in an all expense paid trip. The Debaters will be supported to write their SAT exam for a scholarship to study in America by ZEST Consult.

Scholarship for their Trainers to Study at Jackson Institute of Leadership and Innovation. They took home cash prize, television, books, medals, trophy and many Survenirs but the utmost joy was the Bragging Rights which linger for so many years to come. It was a Triumphant entry to Toronto Desert at Gyenyasi as students and teachers received them in a heroic welcome. Jubilation went deep in the night. For one year ahead of us and until a new winner is crowned, the Mmerantee have the bragging rights. Congratulations. Hard work pays.

3rd/4th Place Contest.

Osei Tutu SHS proved too strong for Bompata Presbyterian SHS in their 3rd place contest. Osei Tutu won by quite a decent margin to prove that they could have been a formidable opponent had they qualified to the grand finale.

PRESEC-B went home with the Best Debaters prize on the day to crown their efforts. The competition has really catapulted PRESEC-B to greater heights.

All schools took home wide range of assorted prizes and products to crown their efforts. Congratulations to all four schools.

The Mmerantee were too good for Presby SHS, Bompata in the second semi finals of this year’s competition at the Auditorium of Christian Service University College. With 259 points to 248 points, Kumasi High School secured the ticket to face second consecutive finalist Prempeh College in the finals of the Debate by pushing away PRESEC-B.

The battle lines are drawn, which school will become the 4th School to win the High School Debate? T. I. Amass, Ksi won the maiden edition by beating Opoku Ware School, in the second edition, St. Jerome SHS conquered Opoku Ware School again to win the second edition while St Monica SHS won over Prempeh College to secure the 3rd edition of the competition. Now all is set for the finals of the 4th edition. Prempeh College will take on Kumasi High School at the Auditorium of Christian Service University College as we count down to find out who wins the 4th edition of the competition?

Before the finals however, Osei Tutu SHS will take on PRESEC-B in the 3rd place contest to determine who places 3rd and 4th.

The four schools have automatically qualified for next year’s edition without going through the preliminary Qualifiers.

For: KUMASI HIGH SCHOOL VS Against: PREMPEH COLLEGE

Prempeh College has done it for the second year running by reaching the finals of the High School Debate Competition after narrowly beating Osei Tutu SHS in the first semi finals of the competition.

Prempeh College were finalist last year losing out to eventual winners St. Monica’s SHS.

The school repeated that feat in an unprecedented fashion by shooting down high flying Osei Tutu in a closely contested battle today at the Auditorium of Christian Service University College under the motion “Juvenile Offenders Should be tried and treated as Adults”.

Prempeh CCollege awaits the winner of the contest between Kumasi High School and Presby SHS, Bompata. The 2nd semi final contest is scheduled for Friday 15th July. Prempeh becomes the first school to reach consecutive final of the competition.

The motions are set, the adrenaline is high, anxiety is rising, tongues are wagging, pulses are rising, tension is reaching a crescendo. Which school will make it to the grand finale? Prempeh College takes on Osei Tutu SHS on the motion “Juvenile Offenders Should be tried and treated as Adults”. Christian Service University College is the venue. Will it be O. T. or Prempeh College? At stake is a trip to the beautiful Dubai or Europe, the stakes are too high. The two schools have in their fold some very wonderful Debaters who will be doing justice to this very ancient topic. In the end, only 1 out of the 2 schools will qualify.
