MATURE PFROGRAMMES OFFERED AT KNUST

WHO ARE MATURE STUDENTS?

The term ‘mature student’ refers to someone returning to university or college after a break from full-time study.

This often refers to students who are over 25 at the start of their undergraduate education, or over 29 or 30 at the start of their postgraduate studies. Over half of older students are between the ages of 21 and 24, with over 40% being over 30. Mature students frequently mix their studies with job or caregiving obligations.

Some mature students may have few or no prior credentials and may be enrolled in Access to HE diploma programs or their first-degree course depending on their job or life experiences. Others may be returning to study for a postgraduate qualification or a degree in a different field as part of their job advancement.
