Yaa Asantewaa Girls Senior High School has been crowned winners of this year’s Renewable Energy Challenge after grueling presentations and demonstration of their prototype to judges at the Auditorium of Anglican SHS.
Ten schools were competing for the only ticket to represent Ashanti Region among ten schools that qualified from a preliminary competition held earlier on.
Yaa Asantewaa beat off competition from Toase SHS, Wesley High School, Konongo and Gyaama Pensan SHTS who won the competition last year and eventually won the national championship as well.
This year’s Renewable Energy Challenge was on clean cooking and food preservation and participants were required to give a 10 minute presentation on their proposal and also show a prototype as evidence.
The ladies from YAGSS managed to convince the judges about their project and also answered various questions on their project posed by the judges.
Yaa Asantewaa Girls SHS will now represent Ashanti Region at the norther level of the competition which will bring winners of the various regions in the northern sector together to pick a winner for the national level of the competition.
