The Ghana Registrar General Administration (RGD), the body responsible for company registration, has successfully implemented online registration of companies, issuance of certificates for starting a business and registering marriage contracts.
Vice President Dr. Muhammadu Baumiya launched, on Thursday, the automated and online portal of the General Registrar Administration to enhance business registration processes. He said that the electronic certification and electronic payment system will facilitate online registration for companies and prevent long delays associated with business registration.
Therefore, he urged the department’s management and employees to adopt innovative methods, in order to maximize revenues for the government and ensure customer satisfaction. When launching the electronic registration system at Banquet Hall, State House, in Accra, Vice President Baumea described the system as “the starting point for making Ghana the most business-friendly country in Africa.”
Vice President Baumea said that Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is critical in the 21st century and emphasized that Ghana will leverage technology to drive digital transformation.
“Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s management has embraced this digital transformation and will lend its support to ensure the smooth running of this process to improve customer satisfaction.
“The importance of information and communication technology in the twenty-first century cannot be overemphasized, as Ghana will outpace other countries and catch up with the rest of the world,” he said.

How to register your business in Ghana
The General Registrar Management Portal provides all users with the ability to submit online requests for business / company registration.
To register for an online company in Ghana:
- First, find a file Search for the name Platform to check if the company name you want to use is available.
- Then register and log in to the RGD portal and start filling in the online form.
- Fill out the form, including your National Identity Card, Tax Identification Number (TIN), and business activity details (nature and essential activities)
- After the form is completed, go to a nearby office and pay 60 GHS to complete the process.
- You will receive a completed commercial registration within 14 to 28 working days.
