UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSIONS FOR THE 2021/2022 ACADEMIC YEAR
The University of Ghana announces for the information of the general public that applications are open for the admission of prospective applicants into various undergraduate programmes for the 2021/2022 academic year. Applicants should take note of the following:
GHANA WASSCE/SSSCE – Minimum/General Entry
Requirements General Entry Requirements into Legon Campus, Accra City Campus and Korle Bu Campus.
An applicant for admission to a degree programme in the University of Ghana must have at least credits (A1 – C6 in WASSCE and A – D in SSSCE) in English, Core Mathematics and Integrated Science (for Science related programmes) or Social Studies (for non-Science related programmes) and three elective subjects in Science for applicants applying to Science or Agriculture related disciplines or three elective subjects in General Arts/Business for applicants applying to non-Science related disciplines, with the total aggregate not exceeding 24. In addition, Science applicants should have at least a grade C6 in WASSCE/D in SSSCE in Social Studies/Life Skills and non-Science applicants should also have at least a grade C6 in WASSCE/D IN SSSCE in Integrated Science/Core Science.

ENTRANCE EXAMINATION:

GENERAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL PROGRAMMES
It is announced for the information of prospective applicants and the general public that the School of Graduate Studies is offering the under-listed Masters/PhD programmes for the 2021-2022 Academic Year.
Masters Programmes
- A good first degree, preferably second class lower or better (or a Final Grade Point Average of at least 2.0), in a relevant field of study at the University of Ghana or any recognized/accredited University. Applicants with third class may be considered for admission based on work experience and/or other qualifications.
• A minimum of two years working experience is required from all applicants desiring to pursue programmes at the University of Ghana Business School.
For more details in respect of Admission requirements, applicants are advised to contact the various Departments/Schools/Institutes/Centres for additional information on the various programmes.
• For purposes of assessing an applicant’s eligibility, he/she may be required to take an entrance examination and/or interview at the Department/Institute/School/Centre.
• For programmes marked with asterisks (*), all applicants are admitted into the MA/MSc programme at the first instance. Students who obtain an average of B+ or better in the first semester examinations MAY upgrade to the MPhil programme upon recommendation by the Head of Department in consultation with the Graduate Studies Committee of his/her Department.
PhD Programmes
Applicants may apply for a PhD programme with a Masters’ degree or a very good first degree.
Applicants applying with Masters’ Degree
• Applicants with relevant Masters’ degree from the University of Ghana or any recognized/accredited University may apply for a PhD programme.
- Applicants applying with first degree
Applicants with very good first degree from the University of Ghana or any recognized/accredited University may apply for a PhD programme. Such applicants, when admitted, shall be required to take first year courses of the Masters’ (Level 600) programme of their departments. They shall be required to pass all examinations in the courses. On successful completion of the Level 600 courses and depending on their performance, they would then progress to the four-year Ph.D. programme.
All PhD programmes in the University are now fee-paying and the durations are as follows:
• Full-Time – Four (4) years
• Part-Time – Six (6) years

The University of Ghana Medical School (UGMS) is inviting applications from qualified applicants for admission into the Graduate Entry Medical Programme for the 2021/2022 Academic Year.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
- Applicants should have a good (BSc) First Degree (Minimum of 2nd Class Lower) in the following science-based courses: Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Physician Assistantship, Pharmacy, Nursing, Nutrition, Dietetics, Food Science, Biomedical Engineering, Laboratory Sciences, Physiotherapy and Radiography. Graduates whose courses are not listed should not apply.
- Candidates should have obtained a good WASSCE/SSSCE grade in three (3) core and Three (3) Elective science subjects one of which must be Chemistry.
- There should be evidence of having completed National Service (if applicable).
NATURE OF PROGRAMME AND DURATION
The Graduate Entry Medical Programme is an integrated 4-year Medical Programme which leads to the award of MBChB Degree. The Programme will begin in April 2022 and will be run on a FULL-TIME and NON-RESIDENTIAL BASIS for the Phase I and residential for Phase II.

ACCESS COURSE
A shortlist of suitable applicants will be posted on the UG website. Shortlisted applicants only may apply for the access course. Applicants are to pay Two Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH¢2,000.00) for the Access Course, Entrance Examination and Interview. Applicants should check their eligibility and proceed to pay at the Academic Affairs Office, UGMS, Administration.
The Access Course covers English Language, Quantitative Methods, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Cellular and Molecular Biology, Anatomy and Physiology.
The course will take place at the University of Ghana Medical School, Korle-Bu from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. each day.
Shortlisted eligible applicants will be admitted into the Programme subject to passing an Entrance Examination and Oral Interview.

ENTRANCE EXAMINATION
The Entrance Examination takes place on Tuesday, 15th February, 2022. There will be only one centre – Accra Centre.
VENUE: ACCRA – GHANA
The Entrance Examination will take place at the University of Ghana Medical School, New Examination Hall, Korle-Bu, Accra – Ghana as follows:.
- Paper 1 – General Paper is from 8:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
- Paper 2 – Scientific Foundations of Medicine is from 11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
It is expected that all applicants will arrange to be in Accra, Ghana within the periods stated above.
