KNUST SCHOOL OF MEDICAL SCIENCES
The KNUST School of Medical Sciences is part of the College of Health Sciences.
The School of Medical Sciences was established to train physicians, medical scientists, and medical laboratory technologists. Students enrolled in the program complete a three-year program and are awarded a BSc in Human Biology upon completion. The MBCHB is still running a 3-year program. At the moment, the School focuses on training physicians at the undergraduate level and medical scientists at the postgraduate level. The School is involved in the training of postgraduate doctors for professional membership and fellowship certification with the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons and the West African Postgraduate Medical College

In 1975, the Department of Medicine was founded. Enrollment in the clinical program began in 1980.
To date, student enrollment has consistently increased. Short-term visits by expatriate specialists have increased the number of academic staff members.
The Medical School consist of the following:

Undergraduate Requirement to Study Medicine at KNUST
All undergraduates must get at least aggregate Eight(8) or better. Those who did Science in Secondary School are the only ones eligible to apply for medicine. The following are the Requirement to Study Medicine at KNUST campus.
Interested candidates must obtain passes in three(3) Core subjects namely, Mathematics, English Language and Integrated Science. For Elective Subjects, candidates must obtain passes in three(3) subjects which are, Chemistry or Biology or Physics or Elective Mathematics. All the above subjects must meet the overall admission requirement in order to be admitted.
Post Graduate Admission Requirements to Study Medicine at KNUST
Most Universities do not accept Post Graduate Admission because of the nature of the Programme. However, in order to be admitted into the post graduate Programme of Study, an applicant must :
- Have an interest in Studying Medicine at KNUST
- Must have First Degree in any Medicine related Programme offered from an accredited tertiary institution (Second Class Lower Division or better) in the Sciences or any Science related Course of study.
- Must Complete National Service with any institution
- Must pass an Entrance Examination conducted by the university

Things to note when paying fees
Fees must be paid in full at the beginning of the semester
- Students are required to pay the relevant Fees as specified under A+B1+B2 and Residential Fees into KNUST MAIN FEES COLLECTION ACCOUNT at any of the following Banks: GCB BANK/ECOBANK/ REPUBLIC BANK/UBA BANK/CAL BANK/ CONSOLIDATED BANK GHANA(CBG)/ABSA BANK/GT BANK/ STANDARD CHARTERED BANK AND GHANA POST
- Residential Fees and Academic Fees should be paid separately into the same accounts using different pay-in-slips for each fee item (i.e. Residential Fees, Academic Fees)
- All freshmen are to have their Chest X-ray examination at KNUST Hospital
