The University of Ghana School of Pharmacy (UGSOP) was established in 2007 as a constituent of the College of Health Sciences.  The School was accredited by both the National Accreditation Board and the Pharmacy Council to offer courses that lead to the award of the Bachelor of Pharmacy Degree. The five academic departments of the School are:

  • Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry
  • Department of Pharmaceutics and Microbiology
  • Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology
  • Department of Pharmacognosy and Herbal Medicine
  • Department of Pharmacy Practice and Clinical Pharmacy 

The School of Pharmacy, which at inception, was temporarily located at the Korle-Bu campus of the College of Health Sciences. In 2011, UGSOP relocated to Legon where it occupies the premises formerly occupied by the Biochemistry Department. Though still inadequate, the relocation was a good improvement on facilities for the School.

The Department of Pharmacy Practice and Clinical Pharmacy is an academic department within the School of Pharmacy, University of Ghana. The Department is responsible for the teaching, practice and research in all aspects of Clinical and Social Pharmacy.
