All You Need To Know About the new University of Engineering and Agriculture Sciences (UEAS)

Government has commenced the construction of a new University in the Eastern Region to add to the collection of tertiary Universities in Ghana. The University of Engineering and Agriculture Sciences (UEAS) will offer various Engineering and Agricultural Science Courses to Ghanaian youth.”

The President, Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is converting the Bunso, Okyeman, campus of the University of Environmental and Sustainable Development into an autonomous or standalone full-fledged university dedicated to the study of the Engineering Sciences and Technology is a bold and visionary initiative with the project costing around $ 90 Million.

The project costing $90 million is funded by the Export-Import Bank of Korea and the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) of the Republic of Korea and is expected to be completed in two years.

Upon completion, UEAS will be the second public University in the Eastern Region, with the first being the University of Environment and Sustainable Development at Somanya.

The Korean government is partnering Ghana government to fund the project.

The President stated the mandate of the new University “The University will provide leadership in teaching, research and public outreach across a number of fields, and will help address problems that affect our food security, and enhance future competitiveness of Ghana’s industries in a sustainable manner.”

In a Facebook post, the Minister of Education Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum stated

The President of the land supported by the Minister of Youth and Sports cut the sod for the construction of the University.

This Government continues to intensify efforts to increase access, relevance and the quality of our tertiary education delivery.

I was privileged to join His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to cut the sod for the construction of the University of Engineering and Agricultural Sciences at Bunso in the Eastern Region today 20th May, 2022.

I am confident that the consultants and contractors shall work within schedule so that in the next 24 months, the standalone university in Bunso will be ready to start admissions.

We are grateful to the Korean government for the partnership to invest in our tertiary education sector.
