THE UNIVERSITY OF GHANA HOSTELS AND THEIR FEES
A hostel is a form of low-cost, short-term shared sociable lodging where guests can rent a bed, usually a bunk bed in a dormitory, with shared use of a lounge and sometimes a kitchen.
Rooms can be mixed or single-sex and have private or shared bathrooms. Private rooms may also be available, but the property must offer dormitories to be considered a hostel. Hostels are popular forms of lodging for students and gap year travelers.
The University believes in community living as an essential part of student life. It is therefore primarily essential, to provide accommodation in hostels for applicants who for one reason or the other couldn’t book some traditional Halls of Residence In the University.
It is for both undergraduate and post-graduate students as well as flats and guest rooms for senior members and guests. These hostels are also managed by the university administration.
There are ten university hostels: the International Students Hostels (I and II), the Valco Trust Hostel, the Commonwealth Hall, the Akuafo Hall, the Mensah Sarbah Hall, the Legon Hall, the Limann Hall, the Kwapong Hall, the Elizabeth Sey Hall and the Jean Akah Nelson hall.
University of Ghana Halls and Hostel Fees and Registration 2022/2023
The cost of residing in any of the traditional halls ranges between the fee ranges between GHC 267.00 and GHC 2,305.00 for local students. Undergraduates who will want to reside at any of the University of Ghana Enterprise Limited Hostels will have to pay GHC 820.00 per modular.
