In the Department, the IT services that the University of Ghana requires to fulfil its mission are provided to be a world-class center for research and teaching. As well as the core IT systems, tools and services that keep the University running day-to-day, They provide innovative services and projects to support learning, teaching and research. Their work is wide-ranging and diverse.

IT Security is charged with protecting the University’s networks from malicious computer attacks, service interruptions, and network harassment. As such, IT Security works to: identify, contain, and when possible, prevent the propagation of malicious network traffic that impacts the campus network; educate, consult with, and provide tools for University IT staff to assist them with protecting their information assets and staff; provide investigative services at the request of University. Additionally, IT Security assists with ensuring that information-related laws, regulations, and policies are adhered to consistently. Institutional Repository

The creation of platforms to facilitate the deposit of digital content of a scholarly or heritage nature to ultimately share, preserve and promote the intellectual output of the University in a managed environment. Training, consultancy, Awareness creation, policy formulation and development of infrastructure.

Educational Technology

Promoting the use and support of innovation and effective uses of educational technology. Lead task force and committees dealing with the IT needs of the University as they relate to academic functions. Monitor academic technology developments and trends at other leading institutions and advise management appropriately

Digitization

To reduce handling and use of Research Materials thereby creating Virtual Collections and increase access to documents. Scanning support, Consultancy, Training, sensitization and development of work flows.
