Hi-Skuul Debate; PRESEC-B Shocks OWASS to Qualify for Semi-Finals: KUHIS to Meet Presec-B, OT vs Prempeh

Opoku Ware failed to make it an all boys school semi finals in this year’s High School Debate after falling to high flying Presbyterian Senior High School, BOMPATA in the ongoing competition.

With 262 points, PRESEC-B managed to outshine OWASS who manged 248 points on the day. The contest was the last quarter final contest after Kumasi High, Osei Tutu and Prempeh College secured qualification earlier. OWASS win could have made it an all Boys smile final clash but B-Presec had other ideas for OWASS.

Prempeh College will therefore meet Osei Tutu SHS in the semifinal 1 while Kumasi High School will clash with Presec, Bompata in the other semi final contest.

The Abrempong produced an amazing performance to outclass Yaa Asantewaa Girls SHS in a tight contest today. O. T. won by 4 point margin after articulating their view on the motion “The National Cathedral is a necessity”.

O. T has thus qualified for the semi finals of the competition just a step away from the grand finale.

By this victory O. T. will renew rivalry with Prempeh College in an exciting contest in the semi finals of the competition.

KUHIS is also waiting for their semi final opponent after securing their ticket.

Prempeh College has qualified to the semi finals of the High School Debate today after knocking out KNUST SHS in close contest at the Auditorium of Christian Service University College.

The contest was too close to call as the two schools presentedconcise argument to buttress their point on the motion.

Prempeh College, who were finalist last year lost out to St Monica SHS but are poised to go all out this year.

. Prempeh College will meet the winner of the contest involving O. T and Yaa Asantewaa Girls SHS.

Defending Champion St. Monica’s were eliminated by Kumasi High School in an interesting encounter on the motion “It is necessary for political leaders or diplomats to be active on social media”. The two schools battled it out for a place in the semi finals of the competition. The principal speaker and his supporting speaker from Kumasi High articulated their points clearly and coherently as they advanced many points to support their stance. Lisa-Marie, the best Debater for the day sounded was great on the day but the boys did enough to win the day.

Kumasi High School were the better school on the day scoring 265 points as against 254 by the defending Champions.

Prempeh College and KNUST clashed on Monday 4th July in another crazy battle on the motion “Government should be held accountable for the flooding situation in Ghana”. In the end the Team from Sofoline were too hot to handle by the Oduom based KNUST SHS.

The next day will see Yaa Asantewaa Girls clash with O.T. on the motion “The National Cathedral is a necessity” in what promises to be a difficult encounter for both schools.

The last quarter final fixture will involve Opoku Ware School taking on Presec Bompata on the motion “Planting for food and jobs has been very successful”.

The four winners will advance to the semi final just a step closer to the finals where the winner will win a dream trip to an European destination or Dubai relaxation trip.

The Debate is a partnership involving Multimedia, Ghana Education Service, Ashanti, the Ashanti Regional Students Representative Council and CHASS.
