Ashanti Reading Challenge; Atwima Mponua, Asokwa Mun., Sekyere South Win Big to Qualify for National
The Ashanti Region edition of the National Reading Festival took place last Wednesday as 10 Districts who qualified from the Zonal level competition battled it out for a place in the finals to be held in Accra. The 10 districts had erlier won in their respective zones. The Districts were battle readyto compete at the Regional Level for the bragging rights as winners of the Regional Reading Challenge organized by Ghana Education Service, the Ministry of Education in partnership with USAID Learning Initiative.
The venue was Anglican SHS. The competition was anchored by Gordon Gyasi Yeboah, the PRO for Tafo Municipal Education Office.
The competition covered spelling bee, comprehension reading among others. After a grueling encounter, Atwima Mponua District represented by Awuku Obed and Assibil Elsie won the Basic One category. The little kids showed that public schools are equally capable given the right tutorials and supervision.

B3 Winner: Adebi Christiana of Agona Asamang SDA Primary school
Asokwa Municipal won the Basic 2 Category represented by Confidence Nsor Ayendenaba while Adebi Christiana won the Basic 3 category for Sekyere South. The three winners will represent Ashanti Region in the National championship to be held in Accra.
Winners took home various assorted prizes including certificates, medals, trophy, books, cash prizes etc under the able leadership of the Regional Director of Education, Ms Mary Owusu Afriyie through whose initiative some Sponsors came on board to support the program.
