The KNUST College of Engineering (COE) was founded in October 1952 and has over half a century, maintained a reputation of quality training and being the forefront of preparing manpower to support the technological and engineering advancement of Ghana and Africa.

Many well-known Ghanaian academics and professionals, both in and outside Ghana, have passed through the lecture halls/rooms of this prestigious African institution.  The College has the vision to uplift the quality of Engineering Education and promote Technology Advancement in Ghana and Africa.  Currently, COE comprises nine (9) departments running 15 academic programs at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. 

These programs are Civil Engineering, Geomatic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Petroleum Engineering etc. Within the overall strategic mandate, vision and core values of the University, the College seeks to become an internationally acknowledged center of excellence in engineering education but focused on national industrial development. 
The College is organized under a three-tier system of administration under the leadership of the Provost who provides among other things, leadership in the College.

The Department has a very strong reputation for carrying out research and collaborating with other institutions on some projects. Being the first department in the College of Engineering, it works in close collaboration with local industry and is therefore constantly in tune with the demands of the industry. The Department is well-represented on various national and international committees, reflecting its reputation and ensuring its continuing influence on the civil engineering profession.

The School of Civil Engineering offers a four-year undergraduate course leading to the BSc. (Honours) Degree in Civil Engineering.

WASSCE/SSSCE APPLICANTS


Credit Passes in THREE (3) Core Subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science and Credit passes in THREE (3) of the following Elective Subjects: Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry.
For J, K, L, and M, Programs, the same requirements as above except that Applied Electricity

OR Electronics is acceptable in place of Chemistry. Also in the case of M, Biology is acceptable in place of Chemistry.
In furtherance, for Programs E, and F any of the following is acceptable in place of Chemistry; Metal Work, Auto Mechanics, Applied Electricity, Technical Drawing, and Engineering Science. Also, for Programs P, Q, and R any of the following is acceptable in place of Chemistry; Metalwork, Auto Mechanics, Applied Electricity, Technical Drawing, Building Construction, and Woodwork.

For Program A, any of the following are acceptable in place of Chemistry; Technical Drawing and Engineering Science, General Agriculture, and Biology. Applicants in this category who do not have Chemistry must obtain Grade B3 in Integrated Science.

A’ LEVEL APPLICANTS


FIVE (5) credits at O’ Level that is English and Mathematics, plus,
EITHER
Passes at A’ Level in Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, and Physics with an ‘O’ Level credit in Chemistry.
OR
Passes at A’ Level in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry

MATURE APPLICANTS


For one to be able to apply, the applicant must be 25 years at the time of submitting the Application.
EITHER
Five (5) credits at the O’ Level including English Language, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.

OR WASSCE/SSSCE credits in THREE (3) Core Subjects (English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science), plus credits in THREE (3) Elective Subjects (Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry). For Programme . Applicants must have at least THREE (3) years working experience.
