Geological engineering (GEOE) is the development and conservation of natural resources in ways useful to humankind. It encompasses diverse fields such as groundwater resources, geothermal energy, subsurface contamination, slope stability, environmental site design, and mineral and petroleum exploration and production.

Salary range for the majority of workers in Geologists and geophysicists – from GH₵1,006 to GH₵5,694 per month – 2022. A Geologists and geophysicists typically earns between GH₵1,006 and GH₵2,684 net per month at the start of the job.
These are professionals responsible for mines design for excavation of natural resources from earth like coal, petroleum products, and minerals etc. Mining safety is also responsibility of these engineers which play crucial role in saving the lives of miners especially in case of unfortunate mining mishaps.
