GES PROMOTION EXAM DATES AND OTHER DETAILS RELEASED

The Ghana Education Service has released the dates for this year’s promotion exams after a long wait. Teachers have been calling for a confirmation of the dates to firm up their preparation plans for the exams.
The GES has now officially confirmed the dates as 28th February, 2023 and 1st March, 2023 as the dates for the much anticipated exams.
The GES confirmed that other details including Shortlist, Index Numbers and Exam Centers will all be made available in due time.

ABOUT GES PROMOTIONS

The Ghana Education Service opened applications for the Promotion of Teaching and Non- Teaching Staff for the year 2022 a couple of months ago . They extended their invite to suitably qualified serving officers/teachers for consideration for promotion to the grade of:

  1. Deputy Director
  2. Assistant Director I
  3. Assistant Director II
  4. Principal Superintendent

Qualification:

1. Deputy Director: An applicant should have been promoted to the grade of Assistant Director I on or before October, 2018 and should have been continuously at post since the date (except for periods for leave)

2. Assistant Director I: An applicant should have been promoted to the grade of Assistant Director II on or before October, 2018 and should have been continuously at post since the date (except for periods for absence)

3. Assistant Director II: An applicant should have been promoted to the grade of Principal

Superintendent on or before October, 2018 and should have been continuously at post since the date (except for periods for absence).

4. Principal Superintendent: An applicant should have been promoted to the grade of Senior Superintendent I on or before October, 2022 and should have been continuously at post since the date (except for periods for absence).

Officers/Teachers with Master’s Degree and PhD

For applicants to avoid any unforseen contingencies or for the avoidance of doubt, applicants who wish to rely on Master’s/Doctorate degrees to join the promotion exercise out of turn should note the following:

  1.  Master’s/Ph.D programme should be on the approved GES course of study.
  2. The Master’s/PhD certificate should not have been obtained before the previous promotion.
  3.  Applicants should have obtained their certificate on October, 2022 but not before

 

CONCLUSION

GES changed the form of its promotion assessment from interviews to exams a couple of years ago to create a fair level playing field and remove any human element and influence from the assessment.
