What is a Doctor of Pharmacy

Doctor of Pharmacy is a professional undergraduate degree that is required by several countries including Ghana, Nigeria, and the USA as a basic requirement for registration as a pharmacist.

Duration of the Doctor of Pharmacy Programme.

The doctor of pharmacy program is a six-year program that leads to an undergraduate professional doctorate in pharmacy. The first five years of the program are spent on campus, with the fifth year being spent working off campus. During the fifth year, students select an elective for which they will be assigned to a specific company or institution to train under, based on the elective selected.

The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Ghana was the first to offer this six-year Doctor of Pharmacy degree.

  1. I’m still a student offering bachelor of pharmacy and it’s no longer a qualification in Ghana, which means I can’t get the three year experience as a pharmacist. What I’m I supposed to do to be accepted
