UCC CUT-OFF POINT FOR PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT

An applicant trying to further his or her Tertiary education at the UCC must compare their grades with that of the schools cut off point to find out whether he or she is qualified to be admitted into the particular program of choice.

UCC cut-off points are used in determining what program a person can apply for. The cut-off points are meant to serve as a guide only to applicants.

Physician assistant (PA) refers to three distinct groups of healthcare professionals trained in the medical model to practice medicine and dentistry: PA–Medical, also known as medical assistants; PA–Dental, also known as community oral health officers; and PA–Anesthesia, also known as nurse anesthetists.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for admission into the University of Cape Coast undergraduate programs for the 2021/2022 academic year. WASSCE CANDIDATES (CANDIDATES AWAITING RESULTS) are eligible to apply.

Applicants should visit www.ucc.edu.gh and then go to the ADMISSIONS Link at
the bottom of the homepage and click on Apply Now for further instructions.
All applicants are required to provide the following information at the back of
the large EMS envelope: (a) application reference number (b) full name (c)
postal address (d) first choice program and (e) application category which
should be one of the following: First Degree Post WASSCE/SSSCE, Post Diploma, Post First Degree, or OTHER.
Applications on which APPLICATION REFERENCE NUMBERS are not
indicated will not be processed.
Applicants are advised to read application instructions as well as the
content of the admissions brochure very carefully before completing the
online application form.

BASIC ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

A. WASSCE/SSSCE
WASSCE Candidates: Credit passes (A1-C6) in six (6) subjects
comprising three core subjects (i.e. English Language,
Mathematics and Integrated Science or Social Studies) plus
three relevant elective subjects.
SSSCE Candidates: Credit passes (A-D) in six (6) subjects
comprising three core subjects (i.e. English Language,
Mathematics and Integrated Science or Social Studies) plus
three relevant elective subjects.
B. General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advanced Level: Applicants
should, in addition to credit passes in five (5) GCE ‘O’ Level subjects
(including English and Mathematics), have three (3) passes in the
relevant subjects at the Advanced Level.
C. General Business Certificate Examination (GBCE): Applicants should
have credit passes (A-D) in six (6) subjects comprising three (3) core
subjects including English Language and Mathematics plus three (3)
relevant elective subjects.
D. International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE):
Applicants should have credit passes in five (5) GCE ‘O’ Level subjects
(including English and Mathematics) and three (3) passes in the
relevant subjects at the Advanced Level.
E. International Baccalaureate (IB): Applicants should have a minimum of
grade 4 at the Higher Level in three (3) subjects relevant to the
program of choice (minimum of grade 5 for Health and Allied
Sciences). Applicants should, in addition, have a minimum of grade 4 in
English/Literature and Mathematics (SL).
F. American High School Grade 12 Examinations. Applicants should
have a Final Grade point of, at least, 3.0.
Applicants are required to read specific Departmental/program
requirements contained in the Admissions Brochure before completing
the online application.

FEE-PAYING APPLICANTS

Fee-paying facilities are available to candidates/applicants who are unable to
meet the competitive cut-off points.
Applicants who wish to be considered may complete and attach the fee-paying
forms (available at the sale centers or downloaded from the university’s website
(www.ucc.edu.gh) to their printed online application forms. Such candidates
shall be required to meet the minimum admission requirements. Copies of last
year’s cut-off points for the various programs are available at the sale
centers and the University’s website for applicants’ guidance.

SCHOOL OF MEDICAL SCIENCES/SCHOOL OF ALLIED HEALTH
SCIENCES/FACULTY OF LAW

Applicants who are applying to pursue the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor
of Surgery (MBChB) program of the School of Medical Sciences, Bachelor of
Science (Physician Assistant Studies) program of the School of Allied Health
Sciences and the Bachelor of Laws (LLB) program of the Faculty of Law
should note that these programs are fee-paying.

PRACTICAL EXAMINATIONS FOR B.ED (PHYSICAL EDUCATION) CANDIDATES
SSSCE/WASSCE candidates applying for B.Ed (Physical Education) should
note that a date for the practical examinations will be announced later.

SUBMISSION OF COPIES OF COMPLETED APPLICATION FORMS

(a) Two copies of completed online application forms (confirmation
pages) accompanied by two copies of results slips should be sent by
POST and NOT delivered by hand.
Copies of the completed online application forms should reach the
Director, Directorate of Academic Affairs (DAA), University of Cape Coast
not later than 24th May 2018.
Applicants are to ensure that application forms are posted early
enough to be received before the deadline for submission as forms
received after the deadline will not be processed

(b) No additional documents will be accepted after submission of completed
application forms. Applicants are to note that only photocopies of
certificates or result slips should accompany completed application
forms. Original certificates/result slips of applicants offered admission
will be inspected before registration. The documents accompanying the

(c) Persons awaiting 2018 WASSCE results MUST select the “Awaiting
Results” application type and proceed to provide their examination
details. Those who already have results but select the “Awaiting
Results” option because they will be writing the 2018 WASSCE
should note that their applications will be processed only when the
results have been released.

(d) Application forms received without Application Reference Numbers,
two (2) copies each of WASSCE/SSSCE results in slips or transcripts, in
the case of Post-Diploma and other applicants, will not be processed
(this does not apply to persons awaiting results).
