Since the year 2000, the law course at the University of Ghana has been characterized as a second first-degree course. This means that entrants to the Law School must possess a Degree from a “recognized university”. By “recognized university”, we mean a University that is accredited by the appropriate body in the country where the University operates its main business as a University.

The University of Ghana School of Law invites applicants to apply for admission into its Post-First-Degree LL.B. for every academic year by an advertisement and general announcement on their official website. Applicants should note that the Post First Degree LLB Program is now a special program taught in the evenings from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. each week day.

UNIVERSITY OF GHANA BACHELOR OF LAW (LLB) ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Entry requirements : Core: Credit passes in English, Core Mathematics, Integrated Science & Social Studies

Electives: Credit passes in any three elective subjects.

Duration: Three (3) years Qualification.

The minimum entry is a Second Class (Lower Division) Degree in any discipline from a recognized University in the country(i.e. Universities recognized and/or accredited by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC). Before starting your application, we strongly recommend that you read and review the advertisement posted by the University of Ghana Law school carefully together with all relevant information and guidelines for prospective applicants. Please follow carefully all instructions given.

Applicants should not send hard copies of documents to the School. All supporting documents should be scanned and uploaded to the application portal. Applicants must in addition provide or submit the following required documents before the given application deadline.

Namely: -One (1) copy of ORIGINAL CERTIFICATE authenticated by institution awarding degree;One (1) copy of ORIGINAL ACADEMIC TRANSCRIPT; Three (3) Academic Referee reports;

Please provide, in your own handwriting, a candid evaluation of yourself as a person, discussing in order of importance to you, the personal characteristics you feel are your strengths and those you feel are your weaknesses. The written self-evaluation must be signed by you with your usual signature;

ENTRANCE EXAMINATION:

After application, qualified short-listed applicants will be expected to take a selection examination which will attract a non-refundable examination fee of Five Hundred Ghana Cedis Only (GH¢ 500 .00) for both Ghanaian and International Applicants. The date for the Entrance Examination will be communicated via E-mail or SMS. Applicants who pass the Entrance Examination will go through an admission interview process.

Applicants should kindly take note that, the dates for Entrance Examinations and Interviews are provisional.

Applications can only be formally considered when all required documents have been received no later than the notified closing deadline for submission of application forms (i.e. no later than 5:00 p.m. or 17:00GMT on the submission day.
