VIRTUAL CONGREGATION
NOVEMBER/DECEMBER 2022
University of Ghana announces that Virtual Congregation Ceremonies will be held for students who completed their programmes of study during the 2021/2022 academic year in all Colleges and the School of Graduate Studies.
The November/December 2021 Congregation Ceremonies will be held from Monday, 30th November to Saturday, 5th December 2020 (excluding Friday, 4th December 2021 which is a National Holiday). Information on the schedule can be found here: UG Congregation Schedule
Accordingly, students who have completed their programmes of study and wish to be presented during the November/December 2020 Virtual Congregation Ceremonies are required to take note of the following:
- Ensure that all outstanding financial obligations to the University have been fulfilled.
- Register online from Saturday, 31st October to Sunday,15th November, 2020.
- Graduands are required to pay a graduation fee of GH₵250.00.
- The following modes of payment are available:
- Payment may be made through Mobile Money, Visa/MasterCard enabled Debit/Credit cards on the Congregation registration portal
- At any branch of Ecobank Ghana Limited

All graduands will be provided with University souvenirs in the form of neckties for males and scarves for females and the Congregation Brochure, when they pick up their certificates.

- UG Congregation Ceremony Photo requirements:Photo must:
- Be in image file format, maximum size 2MB
- Be in studio quality, not blurred
- Have the graduand in formal attire, decently portrayed.
- Have a plain background (No other person or activity in view)
- Have both eyes visible in the image
- Have been recently taken.
- Graduates should kindly register as Alumni of University of Ghana by filling this Alumni Information Request Form. Additional University of Ghana souvenirs are available for purchase at the Alumni Centre or Information Centre.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about Congregation:
Q. What is this online registration about?
A. The online registration is simply a platform that enables graduands enter vital details and pay to participate in the Virtual Congregation Ceremony as well as pick up certificates for their degrees. Prospective Graduands may use the platform to check their graduation status as well. It is strongly recommended that all graduands register online, whether they intend to participate, or simply pick up their certificates later.
Q. Am I eligible for graduation?
A. You are required to check your academic records in good time to ensure that all grades appear, you have satisfied all the requirements of your programme and are therefore eleigible to graduate. You can review the requirements in your College’s student handbook and compare to your online academic transcript in this regard. If in doubt about your eligibility, contact your College Academic Office for guidance.
Q. I think I have fulfilled all requirements to graduate but cannot find my name on the graduation list for online registration. What should i do?
A. There are several reasons why your name may be absent from the list after online registration opens. You need to contact the Academic Officer of your College immediately for investigation of the issue and guidance to resolve it. Graduation list will be posted online by the registration start date. If you check online before then, you will not find your name.
To check eligibity to graduate before the start of online registration, kindly see your College Academic Officer or relevant Departmental Academic Advisor.
Q. My MISWeb pin does not work / I can’t remember my MISWeb Pin, what should I do to be enabled to register?
A. Visit the University of Ghana Computing Systems (UGCS) Front Desk on the UGCS ground floor, UG Legon Campus, for assistance to re-acquire the pin. Please present a valid ID.
Q. What is the deadline for registering and paying to be featured in the Virtual Congregation Ceremony?
A. Registration to be featured in the Congregation Ceremony can be done online only and the deadline is in the general notice. After Ecobank closes at 4pm on this last day, payment for participation is still possible online via visa card or mastercard until 12 midnight that same day. Graduands who miss this deadline cannot be featured the ceremony but may pick up their Certificates later after payment of a fee of Ghc250.00 at the Cash Office.
Q. How much is the Congregation fee?
A. The fee is Gh¢250.00 to attend the Ceremony. Here is how to pay: Payment Options. Do not pay this fee at the Cash Office. Please register online ACCURATELY.
Q. May I pay for Congregation using the same account information I used to pay my student fees?
A. No, you may not. Payment information may be found here, please: Payment Options. Please register online before payment.
Q. I have registered online and paid my Congregation fees as directed but the payment has not reflected on the registration platform. What should I do?
A. There may be a technical hitch. Report immediately to the Students Accounts Office at the Jones-Quartey Building (or call the Head on 0209114001) with proof of payment/ payment reciept information for rectification. This also applies to bank payments, if payment does not reflect after 24 hours. Failure to do so will lead to the assumption that you have not paid and your name will be omitted from the call list for the ceremony.
Q. I have registered online for the Congregation Ceremony and have not paid. Will I be featured in the Ceremony?
A. No, you may not as your name will not be included on the call list. You should have paid the registration fee before the deadline to be included. You will have to make the necesssary payment to pick up your certificate later.
Q. I paid for the Congregation Ceremony at the bank and but failed to register online before the deadline given. Will I be featured in the Ceremony?
A. No, you may not as your name will not be included on the call list. You should have registered online before the deadline to be included. You may submit your payslip two weeks after congregation to pick up your certificate.
Q. Where will my Ceremony be held?
A. All ceremonies will be online, streamed from the UG website.
Q. What date and time does my ceremony take place?
A. Check for the date(s) and time(s) in the Congregation Schedule as well as the session assigned you after registration.
Q. How long will the virtual ceremony be?
A. The ceremony is usually about two hours long.
Q. What should I wear for my profile photograph?
A. Due to the formal nature of the ceremony, Graduands should wear formal attire (such as a suit /jacket with tie), smart national/traditional attire or other formal wear appropriate for portraits submitted. Inappropriate photographs will be rejected.
Q. My Student ID Card is missing, may I pick up my certificate without it?
A. Kindly visit your College Academic Office for a PROVISIONAL ID to present to pick up your certificate.
Q. Will I receive a brochure for the Ceremony?
A. The Brochure will be made available in soft copy online for download prior to the ceremonies. You are entitled to a Congregation brochure for the session you attend. This will be issued to you when you pick up your certificate. This has information on the proceedings, officiants and class lists.
Q. When can I collect my certificate?
A. Registered Graduands will be assigned dates to pick up their Certificates after the congregation period is over. Graduands who do not register for the congregation ceremony may pay at the cash office to pick up their certificates as well.
Q. Can someone collect my certificate on my behalf?
A. Graduands may delegate another person to pick up their Certificates on their behalf from Room D8, Academic Affairs Directorate. In this respect, they are required to present an authorization letter with UG student ID from the Graduand, as well as any form of valid national identification for both.
Q. Is it compulsory to register for Congregation?
A. Graduands who do not register online for congregation ceremony will still be graduated. They may pick up their Certificates after the Congregation Ceremonies. They will need clearance by the Students Accounts Unit, payment of a fee of Gh¢250.00 at the Cash Office. Certificates may be picked up in Room D8, Academic Affairs Directorate. UG ID will be required.
Q. Can I purchase University of Ghana souvenirs / gifts?
You will be notified on when to pick up your UG souvenir (UG Scarf or Tie). Additional souvenirs may be purchased at the Alumni Centre or Information Centre.
