DCE For Wa West Hon. Vida Diorotey Secures Recruitments For Jobless Youth Into GES

The DCE for Wa West, Hon. Vida Diorotey in collaboration with the Ministry of Education (MoE) and the Ghana Education Service (GES) have recruited 40 jobless youth into the teaching fraternity as professional teachers.

These teachers were drawn from the numerous professionally trained Diploma and Degree in Education holders, who successfully carried out their mandatory National Service and passed their Teachers’ Licensure Examinations as required by the National Teaching Council (NTC).

According to Hon. Diorotey, quality education delivery is a vehicle for a speedy socio-economic growth and development and that the availability of the requisite human resource plays a major role in quality teaching and learning interactions leading to improved learning outcomes across the schools in the District.

She thanked the District Director of Education, Alhaji Alhassan Sumani for collaborating efforts with the Wa West District Assembly towards securing the slots for the youth who have been in dire need of job opportunities in the District Education Directorate over the period.

She equally thanked the Minister of Education, Hon. Dr. Osei Yaw Adutwum for securing the necessary financial clearance from Government for recruitment, and most especially for giving a listening ear to her request when she paid a courtesy call on him during her working visit to the Ministry of Education, Accra.

Hon. Diorotey added that, though 95 applications were received and submitted to the Minister of Education for consideration, only 40 applicants met the minimum requirements and the quota ear marked for such a purpose.

The beneficiary teachers, according to her, got the opportunity on merit as their credentials were screened and authenticated at the Ministry of Education before their appointment letters were issued.

She tasked the District Director of Education to ensure that the newly recruited teachers are at post and working as expected of them to improve upon the falling standards of education in the District.

This was made known during her maiden consultative meeting with the paramount Chief of Wechiau, Naa Imoro Gomah II and his Divisional Chiefs, Assembly members, District Education Officers and other identifiable stakeholders in education on Saturday, 19th March, 2022 at Wechiau.

This forum was organized to enable her brief the Overlord of the Wechiau Traditional Council and other key educational stakeholders on the outcome of her follow-up visits to the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service and also, her sustained commitment towards absorbing the Wechiau Senior High Technical School and the Dorimon Senior High School into Ghana Education Service mainstream.

This gesture, she added, will be replicated in the Dorimon Traditional council in the coming days.
