Government Is On Course To Eliminating Schools Under Trees – Deputy Minister Of Education

The Deputy Minister Of Education, Rev. John Ntim says the NPP government is poised to eliminating schools under trees in Ghana.

In a post shared on his official Facebook page on Thursday, February 24th 2022, he wrote;

“On eliminating schools under trees, the Akufo-Addo government has since 2017 completed a total of 1001 school infrastructure projects inherited from previous governments.

Additionally, out of a total of 2016 school infrastructure projects initiated since 2017, 70% have been completed and handed over with others ongoing at various stages of completion.”

Rev. John Ntim continued that government is poised to eliminate schools under trees, by providing conducive school buildings fit for learning in 21st century. In addition to GETFUND projects, Ministry of Education has partnered VALCO Trust Fund to build 5000 schools in the next 5 years. 18 schools (KGs and 6 unit classroom blocks) under this arrangement were completed and handed over a few weeks ago including Abomosu Presby Primary.

In related news, Afia Amankwah Tamakloe, a journalist from Adom FM shared some images of some children learning in the harshest conditions.

This got a lot of people talking. Rev. Ntim comments, perhaps give assurance that these deprived schools will also be constructed.
