Two Excellent UCC Students Receive Additional Support for Their Schooling

Two high performing students of the number ranked University in West Africa, University of Cape Coast, Master Daniel Kwame Walker and Thomas Benson Jr. have received laptops as additional scholarship benefit from Joseph & Elizabeth Quansah Foundation.

While Daniel K. Walker is a sophomore Medical student, Thomas Benson Jr. on the other hand is a final year Education Science student. These two young men who are already on the JEQ Foundation Scholarship have a CGPA within the first class bracket and the laptop was a part on their academic excellence award.

At a short ceremony that took place today Tuesday, 15th February, 2022 at the office of Prof. Rosemond Boohene, Pro Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, Dr. Elizabeth Quansah on behalf of the JEQ Foundation presented the laptop computers to the students.

Speaking during the presentation ceremony, Dr. Elizabeth Quansah, Co Founder and Co-President encouraged the students to stay on course and keep working hard in order to justify the investments being made in them. She wished them well in their academic pursuit.

When asked about her motivation for the helping the poor, she shared that, during her final year at Takoradi Technical University she nearly dropped out of school due to her inability to pay her fees.

“My mother had to sell her clothes to help me out. Other supportive family members had to contribute in many ways to assist me through Schooling”.

Indeed she affirmed the fact that, her husband who came from a relatively affluent background assisted her to climb the academic ladder to get to where she is now.

“Since then myself and my husband, Prof. Joseph E. Quansah have been assisting the needy but brilliant student from our savings but we had to formalise our operations to assist a lot more people”. Hence the birth of JEQ Foundation in 2019.

Daniel Kwame Walker one of the beneficiaries of the laptop computer said “I want to express my heartfelt appreciation to the foundation for what they have done. This laptop has come at a time I needed it most to do some research and to build my capacity” he stated.

According to Walker, being in level 200 in medical school requires a lot of research and the laptop has come in handy for him. “I say a big thank you to Drs. Joseph and Elizabeth Quansah for their benevolent efforts towards our academics”.

He also expressed his heartfelt appreciation to all those who have been contributing towards the worthy cause of JEQ Foundation for which he is a beneficiary towards achieving the highest academic standards.

In attendance were Prof. Rosemond Boohene, Pro Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, Prof. G. K. T Oduro, Educational Leadership Scholar and former Pro Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape and kind hearted Dr. Elizabeth Quansah.
