The College of Humanities and Social Sciences is an amalgamation of four Faculties, Sixteen (16) Departments, and a Research Centre. The amalgamation was in line with the University’s objective to achieve good governance and academic excellence through the restructuring of academic and administrative units into Colleges.
The College is not relenting on its mission of ensuring the realization of its core duty of research and publication and, also building capacity to strengthen its workforce. The College, nevertheless, faces a lot of challenges including inadequate infrastructure especially, staff offices, spacious laboratories, workshops, and equipment to make them function effectively, with growing student numbers and an unbearable student-staff ratio, some progress has been made to achieve excellence in teaching, learning and research area of the college.
The libraries in CoHSS form part of the University library system which includes all six colleges’ libraries and the Main University Library. There are three libraries that come together to form the CoHSS Library. They are:
The Faculty of Social Science Library
The KNUST School of Business Library.
In addition to these libraries, there are a few Departmental Libraries like the Economics and the Religious Studies Libraries.
The three libraries have 10 staff members, of which 3 are senior members, 5 are senior staff, and 2 are junior staff. The principal officers are as follows:

Purpose of the Libraries
The core mandate of the libraries is to support teaching, learning, and research.
Opening and Closing Hours
The Libraries open at 9:00 am and close at 5:00 pm every working day. Weekends are not part of the working days of the libraries. The time is however extended beyond 5:00 pm during the mid semester and semester examination periods.
