Latest Update From MoE On Promotion Of Lower Ranks Staff
The Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum has disclosed that teachers’ promotion from Senior Superintendent II to Senior Superintendent I (junior ranks) will be worked on immediately by the management of the Ghana Education Service.
During the Kokrokoo interview at peace FM, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum indicated that promotion of teachers at the Senior Ranks is based on the Examination which is organized on yearly basis for their promotions. This has been done smoothly in recent times. Teachers who are successful are put on scale. While teachers who are due for promotion at the lower ranks will be Supervised and compiled by the Districts for the necessary action to be made.
Dr. Adutwum further explained that he was secretly added to one teacher’s platform (name withheld) unknown to the group members. He added that that majority of the teachers have been complaining about promotion at the junior ranks (promotion from SSII to SSI).
The Minister noted that his investigation at the GES has revealed that most of Junior ranked teachers have not been promoted for four to five years now.
Dr. Adutwum stated that upon realizing teachers have not been promoted for four years now under the junior ranks, he said he has directed the Ghana Education Service to look into that issue. This will ensure that all teachers who have not been promoted will be duly promoted.
“The management of the Ghana Education Service will work on this to ensure every teacher is promoted immediately,” Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum said.
