The University Of Ghana Medical Centre was constructed by the Mahama Administration at a cost of $217 million.
The project was funded with a loan facility from Israel, with counterpart funding by the Ghana government.
The project is expected to have a phase two to add 350 beds to the facility.
After several deliberations on who has the right to manage the facility, The Cabinet has given a directive to the Ministry of Health (MoH) to take oversight responsibility for the administration of the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC).

The University of Ghana Medical Center is located on the South of University of Ghana, Legon institution.
It is about ten minutes away from Kotoka International Airport.
The aim of the hospital is to promote healthcare outcomes through innovative, customer-centred, cost-effective and high-quality processes.

- TECHNICAL OFFICER.
Qualification for Technical Officer:
- Relevant Diploma.
- Professional license from the Pharmacy Council.
- Proof of Continuous professional development & training.
- Knowledge & Experience.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a similar position.
- Secondary/Tertiary hospital level experience would be an added advantage.
- PHARMACIST (GENERALIST OR SPECIALIST).
Qualification for the above position.
- Masters degree and professional qualification in ICT.
- Proof of Continuous professional development & training.
- Knowledge & Experience.
- Minimum of five (5) years experience in a similar position.
- Health sector work experience would be an added advantage.
- PHARMACY TECHNICIAN.
Qualification for the position of a pharmacy technician.
- Relevant HND or equivalent.
- Proof of Continuous professional development & training.
- Knowledge & Experience.
- Minimum of three (3) years experience in a similar position.
- Secondary/Tertiary hospital level experience would be an added advantage.
- DEPUTY DIRECTOR, ICT AND HEALTH INFORMATION.
Qualifications.
- Master’s degree in Health Information Management & at least a qualification (must have) in ICT.
- Proof of Continuous professional development & training.
- Knowledge & Experience.
- Minimum of five (5) years experience in a similar position.
- Secondary/Tertiary hospital level experience would be an added advantage.
- CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST.
Qualification for the above.
- Master’s degree in clinical psychology or equivalent.
- Member of the GPA is an advantage.
- Proof of Continuous professional development & training.
- Knowledge & Experience
- Minimum of 3 years experience in a similar position.
- Secondary/Tertiary hospital-level experience would be an added advantage.
- CHIEF NURSING OFFICER / DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF NURSING AND MIDWIFERY SERVICES.
Qualification for the above listed position:
- Registered General Nurse OR Registered Midwife.
- Masters in Nursing/MidWifery preferably Nursing/MidWifery Administration OR Master in Public Health (Health Policy Planning & Management)
- Proof of Continuous professional development & training.
- Knowledge & Experience
- Experience in Nursing audit, monitoring & evaluation.
- Minimum of three (3) years working experience as a Principal Nursing Officer OR Principal Midwifery Officer.
- Experience in Internal Medicine is an added advantage.
- Secondary/tertiary hospital level experience would be additional added advantage.
- DNS with a minimum Of 3 years experience can apply as CNO.
