The University of Ghana, the premier university and the largest university in Ghana was founded as the University College of the Gold Coast by Ordinance on August 11, 1948 for the purpose of providing and promoting university education, learning and research.

LECIAD was specifically established in 1989 by the University as an International Relations and Diplomacy institute within the Faculty of Social Studies at the request of Ghana’s Foreign Ministry.

In simple terms, International Relations is a subdiscipline of political science, the focus of International Relations studies lie on political, diplomatic and security connections between states, as well as the study of modern political world history. 

In many academic institutions, studies of International Relations are thus situated in the department of politics/social sciences.

UG INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS REQUIREMENT.

• To qualify for a Master’s in International Relations, prospective students will usually need a good degree in a relevant field. According to https://www.study.eu, This often means a Bachelor’s degree in international relations, history, politics or economics.

UG INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS DURATION.

The study of international Relations in the University of Ghana is a two-year duration. 

The two-year MA Program in International Relations combines a challenging theoretical and methodological academic training in international relations with area expertise.
